Many thanks for your transmission on shortwave! I am very glad to inform you that your shortwave signal from the center of Papua New Guinea Island is now reaching herein Japan! 22:00 Waktu Indonesia Bagian Timur is the same as Japan Standard Time. So it is a very suitable hour for Japanese audiences.
This time I could enjoy many Indonesian Popular Songs. For some months I could not listen to you on 4870kHz. Did you renew or repair your shortwave transmitter? It sounded like very new! Regrettably enough there were some interferences from other utility radio stations. Without interferences, the reception could be superbe!
Your station seems to have a very important role to provide information and entertainment to the people in eastern and central Papua. As your signal is reaching even Japan I believe your signal can surely cover your original target area.
I have been to Indonesia some 20 years ago, and I would like to visit Paua someday to taste good natural scenery.
I am a university lecturer, teaching management. I have been a shortwave listener for these 46 years.
I hope this report will be of some value for you in knowing how far your transmission is propagating. If this report is found correct to your station log, I would like to have a card or a letter of Verification(QSL) to confirm this reception. I am enclosing US$1.00 for reply.
Hoping to hear from you very soon, and success of your activities.

    Yours faithfully,

I used to go to Sekolah Dasar Negeri I Wamena in 1978 and represented the school in various competitions which I always won. None of them were on the first place, but still, I was very happy at that time as a boy and I was very proud. I was there as a third grade school student. My teacher was Mr. Ogetai and then he was replaced by Mr. Tugirin Basri. We left Wamena to move to Jayapura because of my dad’s job.

As a school boy and a member of the boy scout, we used to go to RRI to participate in one of your 3-4 PM (I do not remember the exact broadcast time) program for a couple of times. I was broadcasting Dwi Satya and Dwi Darma via RRI. I was very loud and proud as a boy scout! Looking back, it was fun experiences for me. I do not remember the name of our scout mistress who encouraged me to do all of those, but I remember the name of other scout master, Mr. Slamet Henu Asmoro.

What I remember fondly about RRI Wamena is our ability to send a post card or to drop off a note to request for a certain song. Each household who are interested could create a “house name” as a “call-sign”. It was fun and entertaining and we could also broadcast our personal messages to each other. RRI was the bridge and help us to build a community. I do not remember the name of one of your broadcaster at that time, but surely, he was the celebrity in town! There was no TV being broadcasted in Wamena yet so RRI was the only available entertainment and news in town and what effective job you guys did for all of us. Looking back, with RRI, you helped us to enjoy the life we had as a community. It was a very simple life and worthwhile.

Now, I am no longer an Indonesian citizen. I moved to USA and now teaching colleges here in San Diego, California. I left Wamena a long time ago, but the good memory about Wamena remains with me to this day.

Thank you for giving me one of the best memory of my past. I stumbled upon your website accidentally today and I am glad I found you guys!

    Fondly.
